Hellbent is the brainchild of childhood friends Devon Handy and Sarah Lerner. After the election of Donald Trump, they got together over lunch for the first time in almost 10 years to check in with each other and make sure they weren’t actually alone in thinking the country was going to hell in a hand basket. They hatched a plan to bring their snappy repertoire to the internet, and Hellbent was born. (Fun fact: the working title was Coke Induced Twitter Rage, because Devon and Sarah are children.)
Devon is originally from the midwest, but has lived in California for most of her life. She graduated from UC Davis with a B.A. in Women and Gender Studies in 2010 and has lived in Los Angeles ever since. She is a stay-at-home mom to one son, 2 pitbulls, and 2 grumpy ass cats. She proudly describes herself as a feminist bitch. You can follow her on Twitter @DevonHandy, where she makes a lot of bad jokes.
Sarah is originally from the Bay Area and graduated from UC Berkeley in 2010 with a B.A. in Mass Communications. She lived in DC & New York City for five years after college and moved back to California in 2015. She’s a freelance writer and social media strategist who worked in professional sports before she made the jump to politics. Sarah’s striving to be the angry feminist bitch she wishes to see in the world—and when she’s not ranting on Twitter, she’s snacking (seriously, like all the time). You can follow her @sarahlerner and find her writing on Medium.
